Free ATS-friendly resume and CV templates (DOCX)

Updated:

The templates below are free DOCX files with a single column, no tables or text boxes, standard headings and contact details in the body of the page. You open them in Word or Google Docs, replace the text in brackets and export to a PDF with selectable text. Each comes in a Romanian and an English version.

Classic template, experience first

A single-column chronological format: summary, experience, education, skills, languages and certifications. It is the safe choice for most postings and for ATS software.

Best for: For anyone with at least a year of experience in the target field.

Sections included

  • Professional summary
  • Work experience (2 jobs)
  • Education
  • Skills
  • Languages
  • Certifications

Template for students and beginners

Puts education and projects before experience, then internships or volunteering. The project slots help you show what you delivered, even without a previous job.

Best for: For students, graduates, internships, Erasmus programs and a first job.

Sections included

  • Professional summary
  • Education
  • Projects (2)
  • Experience: internships and volunteering
  • Skills
  • Languages

Template for a career change

Keeps the chronological order of experience but opens with key skills, each with an example, and a projects and training section for the new field.

Best for: For anyone changing fields or returning after a break.

Sections included

  • Professional summary
  • Key skills with examples
  • Work experience
  • Projects and training
  • Education
  • Languages

How to use a template

  1. Download the version in the language you apply in and open it in Word or Google Docs.
  2. Replace all the text in square brackets with your information and delete what does not apply.
  3. Rewrite the summary for each posting, with the job title and two key skills from the requirements.
  4. Write experience bullets with an action verb and a measurable result.
  5. Export to a PDF with selectable text or save as DOCX, then check the final file with the free ATS scan.

Check your finished CV

After you fill in the template, upload the file to the free Joben ATS scan. You get a score from 0 to 100 and the points to fix, with no account.

Frequently asked questions

Are the templates free?

Yes. You download them without an account and can use them for any application.

Why is the design plain?

A simple single-column format reads correctly for recruiters and for ATS software alike. Columns, tables and text boxes can scramble information at parsing.

Which program do I edit them in?

In Microsoft Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice. The files are ordinary DOCX.

Can I add a photo or colors?

You can, but every element you add can affect how an ATS reads the file. Keep contact details as text and check the final file with the free scan.

Which template do I choose?

Classic if you have experience in the field, the student template if you are early in your career and the career-change template if you switch fields or return after a break.
