What is onboarding?
Updated:
In short
Onboarding is the process of integrating a new employee into a company: access to tools, meeting the team, training on processes and goals for the first months. Good onboarding shortens the time to first results.
What does it usually include?
Paperwork and contract, access to systems, team introductions, training, a mentor or buddy and goals for the first 30, 60 and 90 days.
How do I prepare?
Prepare questions about expectations and procedures, note what you learn in the first days and ask for feedback early. Mention in the interview that you are interested in the integration plan.
Frequently asked questions

It depends on the company and role, usually from a few days to a few months.
Does onboarding belong on a resume?
Only when you designed or ran the process for others, for example "Built the onboarding program for 25 new hires".
